This 9 day horseback adventure shows you the very best of the department of Risaralda in the heart of the coffee triangle of Colombia. You will ride from the “green capital of Colombia” – Marsella – to the thermal springs of Santa Rosa. Traversing the Colombian Andes, an area rich in wildlife, you’ll pass coffee farms and endless breathtaking views.

The trail covers over 50 miles in 3 days, during which you will be immersed in Colombian culture. You’ll experience the exhilaration and freedom of riding in these awe inspiring mountains. If you only have one chance to go on an equitrek/riding vacation, this is the one you want to do. The horses are trained and cared for by Marc and his love for them shines through in how they respond to him and how healthy they are. Meals were all delicious (especially after riding all day!) and every place we stayed was unique, with happy, friendly hosts. The countryside is drop dead gorgeous, with steep hills covered in coffee and dotted along the ridges with tiny towns. I absolutely recommend Rancho Saman for an exceptional riding vacation!

Colombia is where I found Red, my horse, my friend and travel companion. Together we travelled the length of this stunning country, and over and over again I was, and continue to be, blown away by the warmth, generosity and hospitality of the Colombian people. And it is together we started Rancho Saman.
